In many places, such as Siberia, Mongolia, and North America, anthropologists have documented their rituals for over a century.

However, shamans seem to be fashionable in several areas today.

Some presume their presence in decorated Paleolithic caves, while others are convinced they found their graves in certain prehistoric sites. Finally, while shamans still exist among certain so-called "traditional" populations, others feel they have acquired the same "gifts" and practice them in our Western cities.
