Fêter l’an 2000 : l’incroyable pique-nique
Conference
19 June 2025
A bit nostalgic, this conference will look back on a moment of celebration imagined to celebrate the passing of the millennium.
On July 14, 2000, along a green meridian (tree plantation) designed by the architect Paul Chemetov (with the support of the Minister of Culture of the "Plural Left" Catherine Trautmann) that crosses France for about 1000 kilometers between Dunkirk and Barcelona, a vast picnic is organized in nearly 350 municipalities bringing together several million people. It is this event that will be recounted here in its conception, its realization and its slightly fiery festive side.
