Exhibitions within the framework of the Biennale des Arts de Nice.
In a sensory and poetic stroll punctuated by the works of Nice artist Eve Pietruschi, visitors are invited to see the various corners of the museum with new eyes and to (re)discover its decorations by hunting for flowers!
In the Palais Lascaris, the jewel of civil baroque in Nice, flowers are everywhere!
Hidden in the architecture and its stucco and gilded wood decorations, in its painted ceilings, the floral motif, a favourite decorative element of the 17th and 18th centuries, is present in many details. The museum's collections also contain rich decorations inspired by flowers in a variety of techniques.
The poetic word "flowering" was chosen because it evokes an ancient botanical term widely used in the 18th century, meaning "development and blossoming of the flower". It is defined in the first volume of the Encyclopaedia in 1751 and in several editions of the Dictionary of the French Academy in the 18th and 19th centuries. Malherbe used this term to designate the time when one "sees the trees bloom".
