Iliade – Festival de Tragédies

Theatre

27 June 2025

Five actors bring Homer's words to life with incredible energy, immersing us in the heart of the war between the Greeks and the Trojans. Words that continue to resonate furiously with contemporary history.

In a single epic breath, this hallucinatory troupe captures all the characters of our mythologies—heroes and heroines, gods and goddesses—and reveals their fragile humanity. Pauline Bayle's ingenious staging sweeps us away, arousing both admiration and terror: a few spangles transform into armor; a little paint and blood flows. Events unfold at a frenetic pace, and the humor, introduced by the personification of the gods, never leaves this grandiose epic.

Today more than ever, as Europe faces a major political and economic crisis, we want to make Homer's voice heard. Because The Iliad speaks to us of oppression without ever falling into Manichaeism, and because its protagonists are equals in the face of fate, we want to recount this song of fury and tenderness. Through the stories of Achilles, Helen, Andromache, Hector, and Agamemnon, we seek to defend a certain type of humanity. Because there are no heroes, only men trying to escape suffering.
