L’île des esclaves

Theatre

30 January 2026

Iphicrates and Harlequin, two Athenians, were shipwrecked on an island; all their companions seem to have perished at sea.

Iphicrates wants to go find them, but Harlequin prefers to take advantage of the situation and decides to no longer be his slave. To punish him for his insolence, a furious Iphicrates tries to punish him, but is interrupted by Trivelin, a former slave and governor of the island.

The latter then explains the law on the "Slave Island": when a master arrives with his slave, they exchange terms. The aim is to correct the pride and barbarity of the masters, to make them "healthy" and help them learn from their mistakes, rather than seeking revenge.
