La Traviata
Opera
29 May 2026
A young couple is blissfully in love... until social conventions catch up with them. Misunderstandings, jealousy, sacrifice, and illness are the ingredients of this absolute gem of operatic history.
La Traviata quickly established itself as one of the landmarks of the repertoire. It's true that Verdi had never been so natural and moving. To deliver this masterpiece, Silvia Paoli sets her production in the theatrical world of the Belle Époque, where Violetta, like Sarah Bernhardt, moves between glory and rejection. A sparse space, dominated by a rickety stage, serves as the backdrop for her paradoxes. The festivities boldly spill over, invading the stage and the wings in a whirlwind. To deliver this timeless drama, Andrea Sanguineti and Silvia Paoli will direct a flamboyant cast: Kathryn Lewek, Julien Behr, and Jean-Sébastien Bou.
Performance in Italian, with French and English surtitles.
