Les Dames de Ferrare – Vox femina
Concert
07 March 2026
In a patriarchal society influenced by religious culture, women in music were long relegated to the background. However, in the 17th century, the education of young girls from good families became the norm.
Education, refinement and the ability to entertain are topical. Learning music then becomes essential. New talents will thus emerge during the Baroque centuries. This concert is dedicated to the expression of women's voices from Renaissance to Baroque music. From Luzzaschi who composed his three-part madrigals (for the "Ladies of Ferrara", three singers whose extreme suavity had no equal) to Charpentier and his compositions for services for one, two, three voices, this concert will immerse us in the world of female voices from solo to ensemble with the soprano Stéphanie Varnerin in collaboration with her singing and vocal chamber music class from the CRR of Nice.
