Gorgibus is a bourgeois who has recently moved to Paris. He is seeking to marry off his daughter Magdelon and his niece Cathos as quickly as possible.
But no suitor is noble enough in the eyes of our two ridiculous maidens. Vexed at being rejected by La Grange and Du Croisy, two gentlemen decide to take revenge. Between the ridiculousness of the precious and the preciousness of the ridiculous, the seduction then takes on the appearance of a farce!
