Niki de Saint Phalle – Vive l’amour #2

A fun and modular traveling exhibition module around Niki de Saint Phalle is imagined and this artistic and educational journey is deployed in the schools of the Nice academy, favoring audiences far from the field of culture: rural territories and priority neighborhoods, but not only.

Designed by the MAMAC public and exhibition teams, this mobile device brings together lithographs by Niki de Saint Phalle from the museum's collection, as well as varied and innovative didactic tools. Goose game, quiz, exhibition wall, sensitive labels are all ways to understand the major work of this Franco-American artist, who participated in the great upheavals of the history of art in the early 1960s.

World-renowned for her Nanas démasurées but also for her Tirs à la carabine creating assemblage paintings, Niki de Saint Phalle is a passionate and committed artist. The exhibition thus addresses the major themes developed by the artist through drawing and writing: Nana Power and the place of women in life and in society, the links and collaborations with the artist Jean Tinguely, writing and the links between the intimate and the political, the artist's social commitments, monumental projects. The exhibition thus returns to the artist's romantic, friendly and artistic relationships. Love, friendship, violence, dreams, childhood, imagination, motherhood, confidence and secrets run through the module. Alongside representations of the Nanas, several iconic subjects are present: monstrous animals, the tree of life, the firebird, the Arcana of the Tarot...
