Neither a novel nor a linear narrative, La clameur des lucioles tells the story of a man’s wanderings in Montreal. The musicality of words is matched by that of a breath, a melody, a breath.
It is about invoking an urban and poetic universe that does not hinder the freedom of words. Exploring a note, prolonging it, improvising an air or a silence, in response to the author's questions. Not letting the sentences fall, but suspending them, tightening them, crossing them, as one would stroll in the streets. Sometimes coming across a hazel tree, sometimes a tramp, sometimes a squirrel, sometimes a woman with or without a face. And on stage, praising this encounter, suggesting a silhouette according to the musical vibrations: "She passed like a dream. It's always the same with her. Absent, she invades the sheets, the balcony, the sofa. Present, she distances us from the world." Like two accomplices in a road movie, Sandrine Bonnaire and Erik Truffaz freely make this story resonate, in pleasure and curiosity.
