The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau joins the network of Sustainable Tourism Players

February 14, 2024

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitain Convention & Visitors Bureau recently joined the national association of Sustainable Tourism Players (ATD). This decision reflects the commitment of the Office and its teams to sustainability, and the desire to play an active role in promoting and implementing responsible tourism practices.

Acteurs du Tourisme Durable is a national association under the French law of 1901, created in 2011. Its aim is to bring together tourism professionals from all sectors, and promote sustainable tourism initiatives to help the sector make the transition. The association brings together nearly 300 multi-trade members: accommodation, travel producers and distributors, territories and destinations, activities and leisure, corporate services and media.

The Acteurs du Tourisme Durable association is thus the first national professional network aiming to move the entire sector towards more responsible practices, by creating synergies and promoting best practices.

In particular, the association organizes the annual Universités du Tourisme Durable (Sustainable Tourism Universities).

The advantages of joining Acteurs du Tourisme Durable

  • Stay informed: receive communications about the network and current events, and benefit from an observatory of best practices.
  • Share: exchange with other members, be listed on the national portal and have access to all the tools made available by the association.
  • Participate: be asked to speak or testify, take part in web-cafés and Meet-Ups, and play an active part in the positive evolution of tourism.
  • Act: be represented by ATD to decision-makers at national and European level

What is Sustainable Tourism?

Sustainable Tourism is defined by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, meeting the needs of visitors, professionals, the environment and host communities”.
