Last born of the art centres of the Alpes-Maritimes, the Vieux Château de Carros has become a place of cultural and international exchanges. High-level exhibitions and retrospectives and a programme widely open to the world.
A unique meeting point between artistic creation and historical heritage, the CIAC, established in the medieval castle of Carros, is a place for the dissemination of contemporary creation in the field of plastic arts. It offers free access to three temporary exhibitions per year as well as to its permanent collection reflecting the creation on the French Riviera during the last decades. As a place of creation, it welcomes artists in residence for a more or less long period, at the end of which they are invited to exhibit the fruit of their work in situ. Historical testimonies from the 2nd to the 17th century decorate the castle's spaces. Throughout the year, the public service proposes actions intended for the greatest number of people: artistic and cultural education projects with artists' interventions, meetings, visits and plastic arts workshops. The documentation center is accessible by appointment for the consultation of books and archives in its spaces dedicated to reading.
