Chapelle Saint-Maur

Located half-way between the village and the ski resort of Auron, the chapel used to open onto an old mule trail replaced by the modern road, on which it turns its back!

Built in the early 16th century, it has the very simple form - rectangular with a flat chevet and covered with a barrel vault - of most rural chapels. The inside is almost completely covered with tempera paintings illustrating episodes in the lives of Saint Sebastian and Saint Maur. The appealing decoration is typical of a highly original painting style widely used ca. 1550 in the Comté de Nice.
