Eglise du hameau de Roya

The hamlet of Roya is located in a landscape surrounded by mountains. A typical mountain architecture with its barns scattered around the square next to the church and its bell tower.

At the end of a small road of 6 km this small hamlet of shepherds has a pretty church of Saint-Nom-de-Marie, chapels, oratories. These monuments bear witness to the life of the 330 inhabitants in 1864. A small gîte d'étape allows hikers on the GR5 to make a beneficial stopover. Roya is on the edge of the protected area of the Mercantour Park and is the point of several marked trail routes. In winter you can practice activities such as snowshoeing, ski touring or ice climbing. Key to the church at the gite d'étape on request and identification in summer.
