Saint-Pierre-d'Arène is a Catholic church in Nice. The church provides priestly chaplaincy for artists on the French Riviera. Since 2011, it has organised an annual ‘artists’ mass' on Ash Wednesday.
In 1762, the priest Don Massot created a chapel dedicated to Saint Peter. The building stands near the beach, today's Promenade des Anglais, “arena” in the Nice dialect, according to its original name “Chiesa San Pietro d'Arena” of the Nice diocese of the Roman Catholic Apostolic Church.
In 1814, during the historic period of the Sardinian Restoration of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia, the chapel was consecrated by the Bishop of the Diocese of Nice, Monsignor Jean-Baptiste Colonna d'Istria, as a church open to full worship and sacraments.
On January 18, 1914, an extension was begun that would lead to the present-day church. The church was finally inaugurated on January 23, 1938, although still unfinished.
From 2012 to 2017, major work was carried out in the basement of the building to create the Jorge François Solidarity Space, named in homage to Pope Francis, which brings together various facilities including a solidarity restaurant for the underprivileged, an art exhibition gallery and a theater.
