La guerre n’a pas un visage de femme

Theatre

From 08 to 09 January 2026

In the form of an investigation, this precious account sheds new light on the Second World War. An intimate and sensitive dive into the heart of the words of women, the great forgotten of history, which questions our duty to remember.

Coming from all over the country, former comrades from the front gather in the privacy of a communal apartment, amidst numerous sinks, hot water tanks, gas stoves, and drying laundry. In the spring of 1975, a young journalist came to collect their testimonies.

From the moment of the Nazi invasion in 1941, thousands of young girls enlisted to fight against Hitler's armies. We enter, for a day, a world unknown to us. Hell is indescribable, even imaginable. Only they can understand each other. With immense emotion, these fighters prove to us that we only know a tiny part of History: war is not made up only of major events, it is also made up of small details. Expressing the reality of war: hunger, exhaustion, fear, cropped hair, oversized boots and uniforms, devastated landscapes, abuse, the irrational stubbornness that seeks to restore meaning to what has none, the deep pain and unexpected joys. By telling their stories, these women are reborn, the most hilarious tales emerge, and they suddenly burn with the desire to laugh, to sing, to live.
