The museum rooms are currently closed for renovation and the collections are undergoing extensive restoration work.
Boumeester-Goetz Collection
This collection "Musées de France" presents about sixty works by Christine Boumeester (1904-1971), a Dutch artist naturalized French and Henri Goetz (1909-1989), a American artist naturalized French, as well as fifty works from their personal collection, made up of great masters of the XX century such as Hans Hartung, Joan Miró, Francis Picabia and Pablo Picasso, among others.
The Volti Museum Foundation
The Volti Museum Foundation is dedicated to the French sculptor of Italian origin, Voltigerno Antoniucci (1915-1989), known as Volti, who during his lifetime wished to create a foundation within La Citadelle. More than 180 works make up the collection, including bronze sculptures, hammered copper, plaster, terracotta and works on paper.
The History and Collections of the City
The history of the city and the Citadel is told through works, objects and artifacts that have been acquired or donated for more than a century to the town of Villefranche-sur-Mer. Military objects testifying to the presence of the 27th Battalion of the Alpine Hunters in The Citadel, works by Jean Cocteau presenting the artist’s intimate connection with Villefranche, collection of Russian paintings from the end of the 19th century, an anthology of the artistic and heritage essence of the place is presented in this collection which allows to discover Villefranche and its bay through art.
