Le Villi

Opera

24 April 2026

Immediately after marrying Anna, the daughter of a wealthy landowner, Roberto abandons her for another woman. She dies as a result. To avenge his daughter, old Guglielmo summons the Villi, creatures who come to punish unfaithful lovers.

Taking on the story of Giselle, a resoundingly successful ballet, the very young Puccini entered this short work in an operatic composition competition. Its triumph would seal the beginning of one of the most phenomenal careers in the history of Italian opera. For this major co-production between institutions in the South-East, the direction was entrusted to Stefano Poda, a versatile artist unparalleled in sublimating dreamlike and marvelous worlds. At the helm is an exceptional Puccinian, Valerio Galli, who received the Puccini Prize for Lifetime Achievement in 2013.
