At the heart of this theatre where blood red permeates every corner, Muriel Mayette-Holtz deploys with talented actors all the tragic power of this masterpiece by Racine, the slow agony of a destructive pleasure, the alexandrine and the slam united.
Phaedra is Theseus's wife, with whom she has a child. Theseus has gone on a journey, and everyone believes him to be dead. Phaedra finds herself alone in the palace facing her stepson Hippolytus, for whom she feels an irrepressible attraction. Oenone, her close and passionate nurse, pushes her to give in to her desire, but upon Theseus's unexpected return, she accuses Hippolytus of incest... His furious father will curse him, and he will die. It is Theramène, our slam poet, who tells us the tragedy of this love story.
