Un chef-d’œuvre à soi. Monet au musée des Beaux-Arts
Exhibition
From 05 April to 29 September 2024
In 2024, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Impressionism, the exhibition "Paris 1874. Inventing Impressionism" will take place in Paris and in over 30 French museums.
The Musée des Beaux-Arts Jules Chéret will be presenting a masterpiece by Claude Monet.
Painted for Berthe Morisot, the work was conceived by Claude Monet as a decorative panel to adorn the living room of his Paris flat. This meant that she could admire it every day. This intimacy between the viewer and the masterpiece is recreated at the Musée des Beaux-Arts, where visitors are welcomed into a comfortable space for contemplation, with a familiar feel.
Depicting Villas in Bordighera, this painting bears witness to the two painters' attachment to the Riviera, which they visited on several occasions in the 1880s. Berthe Morisot's visits to Nice will be the focus of the exhibition "Berthe Morisot à Nice. Escales impressionnistes" exhibition, which opens on 7 June 2024 and continues the celebration of Impressionism in Nice.
